I’m hooked on this dish, and no I won’t apologize for my breath later either

Ingredients

1 cup plain flour
2 tablespoons cornmeal (self-rising or regular)
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 cups diced onions
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Oil, for frying (1/3-1/2 cup)

Preparation

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cornmeal.
2. Stir in the diced onions until evenly distributed.
3. Add milk to the dry mixture and mix until a thick batter forms.
4. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the onion batter into the hot oil, flattening them slightly to form patties.

6. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides.
7. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
8. Serve the Amish onion patties warm and enjoy!
