There wasn’t a single bite left of this dish by the end of dinner. It was that good!

Ingredients
1 unbaked pie crust (9 inch)
3 large eggs
1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
2 1/2 cups of milk, heated until just warm

Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs lightly. Add sugar, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg. Mix well.
3. Gradually stir in the warm milk, being careful to keep the mixture smooth and free of lumps.
4. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet (this makes it easier to move in and out of the oven). Pour the custard mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
5. Carefully transfer the filled pie to the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
6. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a rack. Serve slightly warm or chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving.

Variations & Tips
For a richer flavor, you can substitute part of the milk with heavy cream. Adding a layer of sliced bananas or berries to the bottom of the crust before pouring in the custard mixture can create a delightful fruit-infused variation. For those who like a bit more spice, incorporating cinnamon or a mix of spices such as cardamom or cloves can add a warm twist to the traditional recipe.
